Janis is a lifelong resident of Little Rock, Arkansas. She began studying watercolor with Arkansas artist Vicki Kovaleski.  Shifting her focus primarily to oil, she has studied with Barry Thomas, Doug Gorrell, Kevin Kresse, Craig Srebnik, and German impressionist, Guido Frick.
 

Many of her paintings are scenes of her travels in her

home state of Arkansas, other areas of the United

States, Mexico, and especially Europe.  Janis and Don, her husband of 41 years, have two married sons, Chris and Ben, and two grandchildren, Zachary and Ava.
